Assistant Design Manager - Residential & Mixed-Use Developments (South East London)
Salary: c. £45,000 + benefits

We are currently working with a well-established, privately-owned construction and development business operating across London and the South East, with a strong pipeline of residential and mixed-use schemes.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Design Manager to support the delivery of a number of exciting projects across early-stage design through to construction handover.

The Role
You will support the Design Management team in coordinating design information across multiple stakeholders, ensuring buildability, compliance, and timely delivery across residential-led and mixed-use developments.

Working closely with senior design, commercial and operational teams, you will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle and play a key role in ensuring design intent is maintained through construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the design process across multiple live projects

  • Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Support design reviews, technical submissions, and approvals

  • Ensure compliance with planning conditions, building regulations, and employer requirements

  • Monitor design programmes and assist in identifying risks or delays

  • Attend design and site meetings, taking responsibility for actions and follow-ups

  • Contribute to value engineering and buildability discussions

About You

  • Experience in construction, architecture, or design coordination (contractor or consultancy background ideal)

  • Exposure to residential or mixed-use developments

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop within design management

  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and site teams

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step into a structured design management career within a growing business delivering high-profile schemes across London.
